Eid al Adah

Eid al Adah or the Feast of the Sacrifice is this weekend.  It has been announced for the 4th October.  What does this mean for non-Muslims?  Well for one thing, we get holidays :-)  NJ gets the whole week off, I get three workdays (Sun-Tues).  I've booked the Wednesday off extra, so only have Thursday to work next week!  Awesome!

What does this mean to non-Muslims in Doha?  Activities, events, fireworks, celebrations.  Qatar is a brilliant place for families, and there is a mirage of activities organised over the next week or so.  A circus at the Souk Waqif, fireworks at Katara, Angry Birds exhibition, special brunches, and lots lots more.  NJ and I are going to have a staycation!  We haven't really been on holiday this year, although he has spent a lot of time in the UK and I've been back once; but I mean, no beach holiday, chilling in the sunshine.  So the plan is to do some of that.  Next weekend we are going to the waterpark and a day at the beach with friends (including BBQ).  The coming days will be a round of swimming pools, shopping malls, dinner out somewhere nice and some well deserved chillin'.

It's been another mad week and with no nanny (as yet) and working full time, trying to set up the company and do my day job, it's hectic to say the least.  So no surprise that we both have colds.  The airco in - airco out doesn't help.  It's starting to get extremely nice outside.  Still on the hot side, but totally bearable and lush when you're not at work.

We have two children's parties next week, and for one I am making both the pinata and the cake (superhero theme) but they are things I enjoy doing that don't take much thinking, just doing!

I have had both my medical (healthy) and fingerprints done; so straight after Eid, I should get my RP.  Family visa will follow and then NJ's RP, then it's real, we will be residents of Qatar :-)

Best of all - our stuff has arrived.  By no means all unpacked, NJ's bedroom next on the list, but the living area and kitchen are done and we are both in our own beds (awesome!)

Oh, and we have a huge trampoline !!

My guardian angel of Doha
