Holland

I landed back in the Netherlands on Monday morning this week at 04.30am after the (killer) night flight from Doha.  For once (thanks to my new memory foam neck cushion) I did manage to doze a while. Not like sleep, snore, drool you understand, but at least I wasn't sat straight up in my chair all night listening to other people snoring!

I'm staying down in Delft as I am in the office all week, which means I haven't yet had the chance to go up and see friends, hopefully during the weekend I will be able to, but I also need to get some Xmas shopping done and we have our company's annual gala tomorrow night in Rotterdam.  Unfortunately it's a mad week and Alkmaar and Delft are at opposite ends of the country.

It's been another busy month in Doha.  Being here feels different; Doha feels like home now and I miss it badly.  Especially as NJ is still there - with our nanny during the week - who is great by the way.  This weekend he's camping at the Inland Sea with our friends; oh how I wish I was there too!  I also miss my friends, Nic and SweetP and others.  I miss the weather and our house.  It feels good in Qatar.

As well as our nanny starting at the beginning of October - which has made our lives a whole lot easier - I celebrated my birthday in October.  A great night out with the girls and a day spent with NJ and P, dune bashing at the Inland Sea; a great fun weekend! NJ's visa ran out so we had a day trip to Dubai, which was totally not an inconvenience, and a very enjoyable day, and I was in Abu Dhabi last week for the oil show. NJ and I have also chosen and ordered a car, all being well I can pick it up next week.  I got my RP, the family visa was approved yesterday so all steps in the right direction!

I've gone even blonder, we visited the boat show last week, went out to dinner and had some great days and evenings with friends at the beach, souk, pool etc. NJ has joined rugby as well as basketball. I'm passionately reading again just now (something I can't do if I'm unrestful) and we are enjoying waking up to mild, sunny mornings.

I can't believe it's nearly Xmas.  As usual I'm unorganised and unprepared.  I arrive back home Monday evening and then my friend M from Holland arrives Wednesday night.  I can't wait to show her around and I have a couple of days off too which is nice!  I will see her Saturday night as she is coming with me to the gala, but it will be nice to chill together and catch up.

Before she's gone, December has already begun and a couple of weeks later we fly to Manchester (then on to Holland for a few days) to celebrate Xmas and NY with family and friends.  I still have to find somewhere to stay during the few days in Holland while NJ is with his dad.

Today is a trip to the production hall, visit to a vessel that's in port and my last few hours at the office for the time being.  I can't wait to get back and see NJ.

Life's good!
