Crazy Days

Sorry for the radio (blog) silence peeps - life is hectic in Qatar.  Fun, different, busy, sunny, worrying, disorganised but enjoyable!  So much happening.  We fly to England Saturday, to Holland on Sunday, back to the UK on Boxing Day, back to Doha on the 2nd January.  I'm tired thinking about it to be honest, I'll be exhausted when I get back.  I'd have liked a Xmas in my own home this year if I could have been purely selfish, after twenty years visiting others, a nice rest would have been great. Turkey on the BBQ, chilling at the pool.... oh well, maybe next year!

NJ has been allocated a place at ACS (American International School), not only does it have the reputation of being one of the best schools in Doha, but it is walking distance from our house.  I was in two minds, as NJ has possibly the best teacher I have come across as a mum, who he really really likes; but in the end, the pro's outweighed the con's (apart from his teacher, there wasn't really very much else about the school that was great). I had a long discussion with said lovely teacher and another long discussion with NJ.  He is really keen to go to the school as the facilities are fantastic, they have a science lag

We are still meeting lots of wonderful people every day, discovering Doha in our brand spanking new Jerry Jeep and having fun in the sun.  It's been a mad busy and very tiring year, but I'm still really happy that I made the decision for us to come here.  Emigrating is hard, but we are starting to settle.  NJ has found adjusting slightly more difficult than me, but he's eight years old, I've taken him away from his dad and friends and he's an insecure little boy.  95% of the time he is happy, we are doing ok.

It's National Day tomorrow (bank holiday) and lots of stuff going on in the city; but first, a few drinks with a few friends tonight before we all jet off to different parts of the world.  Tomorrow will be parades and displays and fun in the sun with my super star, then on Friday... it's Xmas.... our special private Xmas as we won't be together on Christmas day.  NJ will be with his dad, we are both not looking forward to not being together but we will make the best of it, and in the meanwhile, there is turkey wrapped in bacon with all the trimmings on Friday, with maybe a swim in the pool afterwards as opposed to a walk in the snow and lots and lots of presents for my little man! Please excuse the grammar, my head is tired and I can't be bothered to get my glasses out of my bag at the other side of the room (we live in a mansion don't forget :-).

Have to be more photos some other time.  Merry Christmas to all you lovely people - most of whom will not have received a car - apologies.  Next year I will be more organised, hopefully....

Signing off from Doha, next stop Europe.
