Holiday time

Well here we are in July already and as usual with the large gaps in my posts, a tonne of stuff has happened. Notably, I am now country manager for the company I came to Qatar with. We have gone from one person (me) to six in a year and a half so things are increasingly busy although with the oil price still very low, business could be better. I have a sales guy starting at the end of the month so hopefully I will get time to breathe at work.

Currently myself and the little man are on holiday in Bali, it's heaving it down but he really doesn't care and to be honest, neither do I! I'm just fine sitting here in to rain (undercover) with my second G&T, watching NJ have fun in the pool. Living in Qatar, rain is very much a novelty to my little boy and no reason whatsoever not to have fun!

We arrived last night after an amazing week in Singapore, I totally fell in love with the place all over again, as did mini-me!! We are here for a week and then I have another week off once back in Qatar so I'm feeling pretty relaxed just now. We are in a hotel that I've carefully chosen to ensue NJ is suitably entertained with plenty of kids activities and a large water slide. This is accompanied by large loud Aussie families drinking beer from 9 am onwards but something I'm happy enough to put up with as I know if NJ is having fun, I can relax!

Nero goes to Europe on the 21st July for seven weeks, first three with his dad down in France, then four with my folks in Yorkshire. However, it's shorter than last year and I will be in Holland for work when he gets back from France so am able to take him to the airport myself which helps me feel a little better. I have no worries whatsoever when he is with my family in Yorkshire and I will fly to Manchester at the beginning of September for a quick visit and we will fly back to Qatar together. Mid September I'm back at head office again as I have been put forward and accepted for a management training programme. We have an interim BD director just now who is really good, it's a shame he's not permanent, he's experienced and making some good changes and he's a nice guy to boot!

I'm managing to switch off pretty much from work, more than normal although not 100%, but close enough!

This was written on the 11th July - didn't manage to upload same on my phone, so better late than never.... back at work now it's the 25th, feels like I have never been away.  NJ is off to Europe for seven weeks and I'm missing him terribly, he's only been gone five days.  I will see him briefly on the 15th August when I pick him up from his dad's to put him on the plane to the UK and then again on the 8th September when I fly to Manchester to pick him up and spend a few days with my family.

Happy summer x
