Summer is Over
Back to real life and routine, as far as we can have routine, interspersed with travel which is sometimes difficult to plan.....
NJ is back from his European expedition, gosh did I miss that kid; not that he has been an angel since his return. There's always a huge period of adjustment and re-setting boundaries that are lost on his travels and confused between residences, both in the UK and the Netherlands. He's an amazing boy and adjusts well, but it's never without tears, apologies, anger, sadness and many other emotions. I too, am back from Nepal, six amazing days with an amazing friend; back to basics and I would highly recommend it, except for the leeches. If there's one thing that really creeps me out it's creatures, bugs, beings, whatever you want to call them, ON MY BODY!! I got bitten six times, five small ones and one huge one, judging by the wound it left, but luckily that sucker (scuse the pun) had fallen off long before I knew, and for this I am grateful! YUK!!
The family was great where we stayed, and met some nice people, although a lovely NZ girl living in Abu Dhabi (our fave) left a couple of days after we arrived... the yoga was bloody brilliant and I really really enjoyed the hiking. Nic and I were the only ones to make it to the top of Nagakort, the others gave up after less than a few hundred metres, some of them managed half way - we did the full six hours. We gave ourselves a high five, as I was the oldest in the group by far (over 20 years older than the youngest) and Nic had a broken hand, but we carried on right to the top!
Back in Doha it is humid and busy, but it's good to be home, I love being home! Things a little up in the air just now with my visa for Dubai so I may end up going there on Saturday night in the hope that I'm done by the following Thursday! If not, I may delay my trip to Baku the week after, then there's the Netherlands in October and Xmas to think about. NJ wants to spend Xmas and New Year with his dad due to his baby brother expected on boxing day... which leaves me alone. To be honest, Xmas is a bit crappy without my little dude and although I'm welcome in the UK with family or here with friends, I don't really want to be around other people's kids when I'm not with mine, if that makes sense? So I may work, I may go away somewhere by myself, I really don't know just now... Single parent Christmas' suck when it's not your turn.
