Week Thirty Three
Another week, another chance... to be kinder, more positive, more grateful and happy. We spend so much of our lives complaining about work, families, children (child, singular in my case), friends who don't call, friends who call too often, friends who judge, friends who disappear. Money, or lack of it, holidays, or lack of them... we are spoiled to fu*k. If you look at what is going on in Syria, Yemmen, Palestine and all those countries where people are losing loved ones, living in poverty, don't have access to an education or clean drinking water or enough food, sometimes I feel ashamed.
We need to stand up tall and be grateful for everything that we have; our health (yes we all have our ailments, but mine are small compared to most), our people and enough food on the table. And love! So much love. Love is everything, everything else is just everything else (that's hanging on my wall) and I really think that if you are surrounded by love in whatever form (my cats and skeleton crew of friends at the minute) then you can get through a lot. Obviously you need enough food on the table as well.... anyway I'm digressing and I'm sounding a little like a tree hugging yoga diva type (bring on Nepal ;-) but the essence of what I am trying to say is be grateful. Myself, my family, my friends, the people I surround myself with, have absolutely no reason to moan and complain and we are lucky that we were born with the passports that we have (well obv they had to be applied for post birth) and have been given the chances that we were and continue to be given.
So my motto this week is to be positive, let go of the negative stuff. Try to be a better and more understanding person and friend, because people are going through crap we can't imagine and just to be really really grateful for all the amazing people in my life and everything else.
I'm starting to think that there may be something to The Secret (Law of Attraction) and that if you only focus on negative things and negative experiences that it will come back to you. Positive thinking is the way forward. Being grateful and finding good things in every day and every person.
A rather un-J post, or maybe not, I have a tendency to waffle sometimes as you know. Radio silence tends to be due to being too busy - will make more effort. If you are looking for intellectual stimulation on this sunny Sunday morning, you may not be in the right place; however, looking for a tongue-in-cheek-single-mum-winging-it-big-style-blurb.... carry on.
Thursday night was a bit of a #feelingsorryformeevening and an early night between my new Zara sheets (bedding) which is so lush, I don't want to get out. Friday was brunch at Nobu with people who have not being in my life long, but who mean a lot to me. They don't judge, they are genuine and they are there for me (we all need people like this). Brunch ended at theirs dancing on the balcony in the horrendously humid Doha night, but coupled with copious amounts of cool water and sweating till we were dripping, ensured that the usual post-brunch hangover didn't ensue. Result! Saturday started well after hearing back from someone I hadn't spoken to in a while, followed by a meeting in town (West Bay) which although full on and working on a Saturday is not really my forte, worthwhile all the same. I then did the dreaded Dee-Eff-Cee or Doha Festival City. Every sane person's nightmare on a Saturday afternoon, unless you're missing your little boy, not in the mood for company, but don't want to be in the house alone. Plus, I need to replace my #threehundredsmacker Ralph Lauren bag which I had to return to the UK by courier after only three weeks because the handle snapped ffs! Luckily my amazing mum, who can be fierce, only on occasion and only when justified, spent half an hour arguing with them for a refund. They said they couldn't because she didn't have the credit card used to purchase it (mind) which is why I'd emailed them prior to check a receipt was sufficient proof of purchase (it was). Anyway, mum fought my corner and luckily the money is back on my credit card, just in time it seems as House of Fraser looks like it's going ti*s up! I didn't find a bag by the way... the search continues.
Back in the office today, hopefully an easier week than the last two. No travel planned, at least today and Nepal coming up Sunday....
