A Day Off

I only work 4.5 days a week, so obviously I have days off like everyone else!  But like every other single working mum, a day off is defined differently from people without children who actually have 'days off.'

That's not a pathetic cry for sympathy, it's just the life I've chosen. NJ has been in the UK for the last 4 weeks, but I've been away too.  I've had weekends off, been to some great parties, met some fab people, but a day off at home, with no committments, that's a rarity!  I haven't had the full day off, but most of the day was mine.  Granted, it was mine to sort out cancelling utilities, subscriptions etc. and this afternoon, I met with a colleague (at my house) to handover a contract negoiation and therefore work.  Even so, all in all, it was pretty relaxed.  I went out on my bike (one of the few things I will miss in Doha) to the shops (hen weekend supplies) and I warmed up leftovers from yesterday, drank a bottle of Pouilly Fumé, not having to worry about getting up early or any heavy tasks tomorrow, other than the supermarket and a visit from my ex mother-in-law! I watched a cheesy film and wondered where these guys from the chick-flicks actually hang out, I've never met anyone like the dudes in the films.

The hightlight!  I spoke to NJ.  He sounds so grown up, I'm so proud of him.  He cried a little, I talked to him again and he seemed ok.  I can't wait to see my little dude and take him to our new house, he's my reason for being.  He's my superstar!
