National Day of Mourning

Today in the Netherlands, it's a national day of mourning.  The flags are flying half mast and there will be a minute's silence as the first 50 victim's bodies arrive in Eindhoven at around 4pm CET. Relatives of the victims, the king and queen and the Prime Minister will be waiting for the airplane to arrive and five minutes before landing, the church bells will ring out on this tragic day.

Families will be kept waiting to have their loved ones identified, what a horrific time this is.

They see no light at the end of the tunnel, lives have been changed irrevocably, the same as my very dear friend, grieving in Australia, devastated!

This sensless tradgedy has touched the world.  I imagine families around the globe, unable to speak, or eat or rest and my heart breaks for my friend and all the other people who have had loved ones ripped out of their lives.  So many sensless tragedies during my time on this earth, but this one hurts more; it's personal and the tears don't dry.

My life moves forward in Qatar and preparations are ongoing for the continent shift, something I have wanted for a long time and looked forward to in great anticipation. Here in Doha though, the Dutch flag also hangs half-mast and we remember and share the pain.

  1. Hi babe,

thank you for keeping us up to date. Still love to read your stories. Your house looks amazing, can't wait to see it in real life!!
What a nice photo of NJ! He's cute...

I have seen the tv show about bringing back the diseased (spelling?) to the NL... it was very impressive. At 4 pm we had one minute of silence... I thought about your friend in Australia and all the others who have lost their loved ones in this horrible crash. It's so unfair!

Keep up the writing and hope to see you next week!

Big hug and lots of kisses

    M
