The Expat Life (part 2)

Last night I went round to my new friend's house.  We met on Facebook - there's a fantastic page called When, Where & How in Doha.  I posted about NJ's new school, she answered; her daughter goes there (her son will join in September).  Turns out she's from Leeds (near me) and she's lovely.  We met for coffee on Tuesday night at the mall and last night she was having a few friends round.  A baby shower / girl's night at her villa.  Hubby upstairs in the 'den', children asleep and wine a plenty. Two Filipina ladies doing mani's and pedi's and some nice food.  Throw in a few face packs and some interesting people and a good night was had by all.  I felt much healthier than I deserved to this morning after all that red wine.

For the very first time in my life I had a pedicure!! Now those of you who know me well, know I can't stand being tickled, especialy my feet!  I survived, there was some chuckling involved, but overal it was an enjoyable experience!

The company was great. There was a Filipina lady who's married to a South African, their daughter will also go  to NJ's new school in September.  There was a really fun Ukrainian woman with two boys, who's married an Egyptian, and spent fifteen years in Newcastle! Great humour with a mafia-type accent!

Then there was a British woman, who's mad on cross-fit, has two kids, hubby works for Shell.  A Lebanese girl, Portugese woman (who was pregnant) and her neighbour.  I was the last to leave, I could have stayed longer, it was lovely to chat to Nic and get to know her.

The conversation was peppered with tales of 'getting my first Laboutins', 'I got the new 65" smart TV I wanted' nightmare nannny stories and much more Expat chit chat.  Immensley enoyable, but I felt out of my league, apparently it doesn't take long to get used to!

Can't wait to book my next pedicure!
