Back at the airport

Here I am once again, ensconced in the business lounge at Hamad airport.  After this trip I'll be gold with QA and I go to a better lounge; although I've noticed the last couple of weeks that they have started serving alcohol in here - publicly (they didn't used to).  Not that I want a bevvy at half past five in the morning but the coffee's not bad.  Never many seats though and although I can't see it, I'm obviously sitting close to the smoking area as it stinks!  Apparently the other lounge is better! On the topic of gold card membership, I've never much given a rat's ar*e to be honest, except for the free flights and the extra baggage, but it's surprising that the higher you rank in the frequent flyer system, the nicer everyone is to you, even in my beanie and yoga pants and ripped denim jacket #amusing! Actually it's not surprising really is it, but it does get embarrassing when they come to me in economy class and welcome me on board and ask for me to let them know if I need anything and the rigger, construction worker or working class expat wife and screaming kids next to me look at me as though I have two 'eads (tongue firmly in side of cheek here)!

No more sleeps!!!!  Today I get to see my little man.  For those of you with normal lives and for those of you who don't travel, you have no idea how much I have missed this little guy!  I won't ramble, I know some of you hate kids and some of you have none, and some of you don't share my highly emotional state, but I've struggled; especially the last few weeks! Next year things will have to be different.  Don't get me wrong he's had a wonderful time but, by fitting in with everyone else's holidays, and again, not something that can be influenced most of the time with set dates etc. and my work travel schedule (idem ditto), it means I haven't seen him since the 30th June; too long for both of us!

Anyway, beanie on, neck pillow firmly attached to handbag (forgot it last two times - klutz), duty free bought for the folks (my saviours) and it's almost time to board.  Hopefully I will get some sleep on the flight as I was awake before four, and I'll say my little travelers prayer before boarding 'please lord don't give me a fatty or a stinky or a boring but annoying chatterbox in the seat next to mine' and off we go to rainy Manchester (a huge assumption but it's always raining over that side of the Pennines!)

Till Europe..... or beyond!

  1. Hi babe! Haven't been in touch for a while and I'm very sorry for that. I do read your blog and it's nice to see that you and mannie are ok! Too bad that I was too late with reading your blog because if I knew you where in NL I would have drove up to Delft to see you. I just want you to know that I haven't forgot the nice dinners and talks we had when you were living here. I do miss you very much and although we almost never speak to each other I miss you a lot.
At my end there is nothing new... still living on my own (in my new house) and still no boyfriend or anything closely related to that.

If you can find the time to Skype, please let me know so we can catch up (read: so you can tell me everthing that is happening in your and mannies life) ;).

Miss you and lots of love and kisses for you and NJ.

    Xxxxxxxxxxxxx M
